Red Cedar Timber Frame Pergola

A summer day on the Gall’s patio in Clermont, NY

Project Notes:

This pergola was constructed out of red cedar using timber framing techniques. The cedar was from the Gall’s property in Clermont. Logs were milled into large timbers. Mortise and tenon joinery was used to construct two bents. The bents can be thought of like a cross-section of the structure. The bents are joined via a lower girt and the trellis above. An oil finish was applied to the final product to prolong its life.
